[Akiba] Congrats to the former Chipcon guys...[/Akiba] Energy Micro A/S (Oslo, Norway), the startup that has brought the Gecko family of 32-bit ARM-based microcontrollers to market, announced it has raised $13 million in an initial financing round led by Northzone Ventures and Investinor. The funds, Energy Micro stated, will serve to further extend the company's microcontroller product portfolio, to develop and bring to market a range of energy-friendly radio products and to enhance the sales channels to sustain continuous growth. ... Shortly after, Energy Micro said it intended to sample a family of stand-alone RF transceivers, covering 868- to 870-MHz, 915- to 928-MHz and 2.4-GHz bands, in mid 2011.
