[Akiba] An interesting link got pointed out to me. I've never heard of this group before, but it sounds like it might be interesting...[/Akiba]

The open and easy way to connect also your sensor devices (low power & low data) in large commercial buildings by using an open IP based and cost effective wireless Mesh-Network. The IP500 Alliance supports a world wide accepted IP standard for Wireless Sensor Mesh-Networks with key advantages:

  • connecting low-power Sensor over IP to central station (no extra infrastructure needed)
  • allows to use devices with various protocols (KNX, LON etc.)  in the same IP network, without using complicated gateways
  • easy to install due to IP based structure (no extra knowledge at installer level is needed to understand the network)
  • cost effective wireless solution / module with highest scalability
  • high robustness and coverage in buildings, due to advantages of using the Sub-1 GHz (868/915 MHz) wireless IC (RF chips) solution
