This thread discusses the Content article: iPhone: The Home Automation Remote Killer

Oh yes fabuloso, this is exactly what I was looking for. I thought the Zigbee forum was the way to go, I don't know if the iPhone would need yet another wireless chipset to use Zigbee devices, I don't know.

All I know is I want my light switch (http://www.productpilot.com/en/suppliers/doyle-amp-tratt-products-ltd/142331/?status=product) to be controlled by the iPhone, come on guys lets pull, get this working.

Controlling a light switch is something everybody can relate too, it should start like that, then on to the petrol fuelled mini helicopters and speedboats!

Ha ha ha. No helicopters in the near future for me.
Yeah, I'd also like to get profiles up and running soon. There is still a lot to do to build out a full Zigbee stack for me, but I'll try and get the light switch going soon. Not sure how long for the iPod controller though.

Try look at San Juan software's "best in class" demo from Freescale's FTF show this year (about 50 second in):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcsmvQ99vGE

It uses an Ipod to control 3 different wireless protocols using a wireless lan gateway..
